Gorgeous Bird Show
Once again it was worth the wind and cold to head out! This morning I went out again on the Hatches Harbor Fire Road - low tide was just about at sunrise. Once the sun came up over the horizon it was cold, glorious, strong low light everywhere that I looked!
I hope that you enjoy -
Up at the north side of the dike I found these two gorgeous birds. First, a female Common Eider.
Then this beautiful Herring Gull.
Next I turned around to see a small flock of birds that I have only seen from quite a distance before - Dunlins! I was thrilled! And they just kept making their way towards me - incredible!!
I had in my mind to hang around at a good-sized puddle that had a skim coat of ice on it on my walk back - the light was still amazing!. This puddle is on the path just as you enter a wooded area where often I see small birds flitting around. Just as I approached I saw tiny wings flying around among the pine trees so I stopped and set up with the frozen puddle in view… And then this gorgeous Bluebird landed for a split second along the edge!
Then this sweet little Yellow-rumped Warbler landed on the ice covered puddle that was now bathed in golden light!
