Purple-throated Mountain-gem
It will take me quite some time to post all of the photos that I want to from our Costa Rica trip - I will keep at it!!
Today I wanted to share with you photos of the Purple-throated Mountain-gem - what a gorgeous hummingbird. These hummingbirds are rare so we were very fortunate to see them. I spent a lot of hours trying to capture this species - here are some from one morning…. On this particular morning I had rain showers, mist and glimpses of sun - and the entire time hummingbirds were busy flitting around everywhere! Needless to say it was a challenge for me to capture some shots! Costa Rica is home to over 50 different species of hummingbirds - incredible! In the area we stayed in we saw about 4 different species almost daily.
